Turkish police officers have detained 473 suspects across 25 provinces as part of a nationwide operation targeting cybercrime.

Courts ordered 286 suspects jailed, while 92 were placed under judicial control, according to TRT Haber.

The operation was coordinated by the Interior Ministry, the Cybercrime Department of the General Directorate of Security, the Financial Crimes Investigation Board (MASAK) and provincial chief public prosecutor’s offices.

The suspects are accused of a range of offenses, including qualified fraud, organizing illegal gambling and betting, distributing child sexual abuse material, hacking mobile banking accounts and laundering criminal proceeds.

According to investigators, the suspects created phishing websites and defrauded people by posing as landlords, tax authorities or sellers demanding deposits for vehicles.

Police also accuse the group of hacking gaming and banking accounts and carrying out covert financial transactions for illegal betting operations.

The operation is part of Türkiye’s broader efforts to combat cybercrime and financial offenses linked to online fraud, illegal gambling and illicit money transfers.
