Türkiye and Syria have set an ambitious goal of increasing their bilateral trade volume to $10 billion, building on record-breaking commercial ties between the two neighbors.

Turkish Trade Minister Ömer Bolat announced the target on the social media platform NSosyal following the Syria Free Trade, Industrial Zones and Investment Forum held at Türkiye's Ministry of Trade in Ankara, The Caspian Post reports via Qatar News Agency.

Trade between the two countries reached a record $3.7 billion in 2025, providing a strong foundation for deeper economic cooperation.

Bolat expressed hope that Syria would revise its customs tariffs, accelerate the work of the Joint Customs Committee, and strengthen cooperation at border crossings-key measures that he said are essential to achieving the $10 billion trade objective.

"Our goal is to mobilize the full commercial potential along the entire border region, especially between Gaziantep and Aleppo," the minister said.

Türkiye also reaffirmed its commitment to working closely with the Syrian side to strengthen economic integration, expand cross-border trade, and create new investment opportunities as the two countries seek to deepen commercial relations.
