Uzbekistan and Georgia Strengthen Historic Ties, Explore New Cooperation Prospects

The Senate of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan held a meeting with members of the Georgian delegation, led by Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze.

Senate Speaker Tanzila Narbayeva emphasized that this visit provides an excellent opportunity to open a new chapter in developing cooperation between the two countries, The Caspian Post reports citing UzA.

“In the national traditions of the peoples of Uzbekistan and Georgia, there are many similarities. Both nations share qualities such as hospitality and devotion to their homeland”, Ms. Tanzila Narbayeva said. “In recent years, friendly ties have been developing with ancient traditions. Mutual trust binds our peoples together. A testament to this strong relationship is the establishment of the Uzbekistan - Georgia Friendship Society in Tashkent and the work of the “Megobroba” Cultural Center of Georgia”.

Irakli Kobakhidze expressed Georgia’s interest in developing close cooperation with Uzbekistan. He highly praised the achievements of Uzbekistan in various fields and noted that the reforms initiated by the Head of state are reflected in the people’s daily lives.

During the discussion, special attention was given to strengthening cooperation in priority areas such as tourism, economy, electronics, agriculture, and transport communications.

The meeting also focused on the implementation of joint promising projects. In particular, the parties discussed new plans based on an analysis of the current state of cooperation.

It was noted that Georgian parliamentary leaders are keen to participate in the 150th Assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union, which will be held in Uzbekistan. Both sides agreed to continue strengthening the practice of mutual support on the international stage.
