Dushanbe to Host Major FAO Conference on Food Security

The capital of Tajikistan, Dushanbe, will host the 35th Regional Conference of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) from May 11 to 15, bringing together policymakers and experts to discuss food security and agricultural development across Europe and Central Asia.

The announcement was made on March 11 during a virtual meeting between Tajikistan’s Minister of Agriculture Kurbon Hakimzoda and Viorel Gutu, FAO Deputy Director-General and Regional Representative for Europe and Central Asia, The Caspian Post reports via Tajik media.

During the meeting, the sides signed a memorandum aimed at ensuring timely and high-quality preparations for the major international gathering.

The conference is expected to bring together representatives from 54 FAO member states across Europe and Asia, along with leading international organizations, financial institutions, and development partners, turning Dushanbe into a key regional platform for discussions on agriculture, food systems, and sustainable development.
