Tajikistan and China discussed expanding cooperation in the supply of petroleum products.

According to the Ministry of Energy and Water Resources of the Republic of Tajikistan, the discussions took place on July 29, 2026, in Dushanbe during a meeting between Tajikistan's Minister of Energy and Water Resources, Daler Juma, and China's Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to Tajikistan, Guo Zhijun, Trend reported.

"During the dialogue, particular attention was paid to the import of petroleum products from the People's Republic of China to the Republic of Tajikistan," the statement said.

The parties discussed current issues of bilateral cooperation and outlined priority areas for further collaboration.

They also reviewed the development of trade and economic cooperation in this area, as well as ways to further strengthen mutually beneficial relations.

Earlier, Tajikistan and China's Wangneng Environment discussed expanding cooperation on a waste-to-energy project in Dushanbe. The sides reviewed the implementation of a municipal solid waste processing facility designed to generate electricity through waste incineration and reaffirmed their commitment to continuing cooperation on the initiative.

Energy cooperation between Tajikistan and China has continued to expand in recent years, covering a wide range of areas, including electricity infrastructure, renewable energy, industrial development, and fuel supplies. Strengthening cooperation in petroleum products trade could contribute to improving the reliability of fuel supplies for Tajikistan's domestic market and support the country's growing energy demand.

Looking ahead, deeper trade and investment ties with China are expected to play an important role in the modernization of Tajikistan's energy sector. Expanding cooperation in fuel supplies and energy infrastructure may also help diversify import sources, strengthen energy security, and support long-term economic development.
