Tajikistan and Uzbekistan to expand tourism ties

Uzbekistan will intensify its efforts to attract tourists from both countries to Tashkent and Dushanbe, according to the Tajik Embassy in Tashkent.

The matter was discussed during a meeting between the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Tajikistan to the Republic of Uzbekistan Abdujabbor Rahmonzoda and the Deputy Khokim of Tashkent Sanjar Tojiev, The Caspian Post reports citing local media.

Deputy Khokim of Tashkent announced that at the end of February, representatives of the Hokimiyat of Tashkent together with heads of tourist centers will visit Khujand in northern Tajikistan in order to get acquainted with tourist opportunities of the city.

During the meeting the deputy khokim of Tashkent proposed to expand cooperation in tourism with Khujand. The parties reached an agreement on this issue.

The sides also exchanged views on further cooperation in tourism and increasing the number of tourists to Tashkent and Dushanbe.
