Tajikistan's Minister of Health and Social Protection, Jamoliddin Abdullozoda, confirmed in a press conference that no cases of monkeypox or metapneumovirus have been detected in the country.
According to him, the Ministry of Health and Social Protection in cooperation with WHO has purchased tests to detect monkeypox and all laboratories are ready to detect the disease, The Caspian Post reports, citing Tajik media.
The country has 17 laboratories to detect all types of viruses as well as a sefinator (a sefinator is an instrument or method used to determine the genotypes of viruses).
“Regarding metapneumovirus infection, which has been reported in many countries this season, we conducted a study and out of 715 hospitalized patients with symptoms of respiratory tract infection, not a single case of metapneumovirus was detected. In particular, adenovirus and rotavirus infections were detected,” the Minister noted.
The study of the epidemiological situation with infectious diseases in the republic in 2024 showed that such diseases as smallpox, plague, cholera, leptospirosis, measles and poliomyelitis were not recorded.
