Tajikistan Taps Into Diaspora Power to Boost Investments

Chairman of the Tajik State Committee on Investment and State Property Management Sulton Rahimzoda said that the country is actively engaging with its diaspora in an investment context.

“Over the past two years, a number of events have been organized both inside and outside Tajikistan. One of the most recent was a gala dinner in Abu Dhabi. At such events, our compatriots who run businesses abroad but have a strong interest in implementing their projects here in Tajikistan are brought together,” he said, The Caspian Post reports via Tajik media.

“In this context, together with Tajinvest, the ‘Investment Attaché’ initiative was launched. Through this program, our compatriots living abroad, who, on a voluntary basis, assist in several key areas: promoting and presenting Tajikistan’s opportunities abroad, attracting investments, facilitating dialogue, and identifying potential partners who can invest in economy, are involved. Thirdly, through this mechanism, we also encourage them personally to be part of the Tajik community working for the benefit of the country,” he noted.

He added that as part of the upcoming Investment Forum, an informal “no-tie” roundtable, where compatriots from abroad, together with ministers and heads of Tajik government agencies, will have the opportunity to openly discuss important issues, is planned to be held.
