Tajikistan Tourism Sector Shows Strong Early-Year Growth

Over 370,000 foreign tourists visited Tajikistan in the first quarter of 2026, representing a 20% increase compared to the same period last year.

According to the Statistics Agency of the Republic of Tajikistan, a total of 439,400 people entered the country for various purposes during the reporting period, The Caspian Post reports, citing Qazinform.

Out of this total, 371,300 were classified as tourists based on World Tourism Organization methodology, reflecting a 20.9% year-on-year increase.

Most foreign arrivals-406,600 people, or 92.5%-came from CIS countries. Uzbekistan ranked first with 247,100 visitors, followed by Russia with 104,700, Kyrgyzstan with 40,000, Kazakhstan with 10,700, and Turkmenistan with 1,900 visitors. In addition, Tajikistan received 27,100 tourists from non-CIS countries.

Alongside the growing number of arrivals, the country’s tourism infrastructure continued to expand. A total of 191 travel companies are operating in Tajikistan, along with 216 hotels, 53 hostels, 57 sanatoriums, 4 children’s sanatoriums and camps, 6 health and wellness centers, 8 rest homes, and 5 tourist and recreational centers.

During the quarter, the tourism sector employed an average of 3,821 people, while revenue from tourism services reached 72.7 million somoni.
