The United Nations World Food Programme (WFP) and Tajikistan’s Ministry of Agriculture have formalized a Technical Assistance Agreement aimed at accelerating the digital transformation of agriculture and empowering youth through innovative technologies.
This agreement is part of the project titled “Engaging Youth Smallholder Farmers through Agri-Tech for Improved Food Security and Value Chains,” which is supported by the Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA), The Caspian Post informs via Tajik media.
The initiative marks a significant milestone in Tajikistan’s agricultural modernization efforts, focusing on digital innovation, inclusive partnerships, and active youth involvement.
In line with the Government’s Agricultural Digitization Strategy (2025-2027), the project emphasizes enhanced knowledge exchange, innovation-driven solutions, and stronger integration of value chains. It aims to directly benefit approximately 10,000 young people between the ages of 15 and 35 through targeted training and capacity-building programs.
The Ministry of Agriculture will co-chair the project’s Steering Committee and play a key role within the Technical Working Group on Digital Agriculture.
“This partnership demonstrates our shared dedication to building a resilient, technology-driven agricultural sector that empowers young farmers and bolsters food security,” stated Adham Musallam, WFP Representative and Country Director in Tajikistan. “By merging digital innovation with skills development, we are opening new pathways for Tajikistan’s youth to prosper.”
WFP reiterated its ongoing commitment to supporting Tajikistan’s agricultural transformation through digital tools, youth-led initiatives, and strategic collaborations.
The World Food Programme is the largest humanitarian organization worldwide, dedicated to saving lives in crisis situations while using food assistance as a catalyst for peace, stability, and sustainable development.
KOICA, established in 1991 by the Republic of Korea, implements development aid and technical cooperation programs aimed at fostering global prosperity and inclusive growth that leaves no one behind.
