Turkmen, Kyrgyz FMs Discuss UN Forum, Regional Ties in Phone Call

Turkmen Foreign Minister Rashid Meredov had a phone talk with his Kyrgyz counterpart Jeenbek Kulubaev to discuss preparations for a major upcoming UN event and to review key areas of regional and international cooperation.

The two ministers exchanged views on pressing topics on the multilateral agenda, with a particular focus on the forthcoming Third United Nations Conference on Landlocked Developing Countries (LLDC3), set to take place from August 5 to 8, 2025, in the coastal city of Avaza, Turkmenistan, The Caspian Post reports via Turkmen media.

Kyrgyzstan will be sending an official delegation to participate in the conference, which is considered a critical platform for addressing the unique development challenges faced by landlocked developing countries (LLDCs).

Both sides stressed the strategic importance of LLDC3 in advancing the collective interests of LLDCs, enhancing regional connectivity, and accelerating progress toward the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The ministers agreed that the success of the conference would mark a significant step forward in promoting regional partnerships and global equity.

In conclusion, Meredov and Kulubaev reaffirmed their mutual commitment to strengthening the bilateral relationship between Turkmenistan and Kyrgyzstan, and to continuing close cooperation within the international and regional organizations.
