Turkmenistan has secured first place at the third International Mathematical Olympiad for pupils, held at the Magtymguly Turkmen State University, marking a major achievement in global academic competition.
The prestigious event brought together 170 young talents from 11 countries, including China, Russia, Türkiye, Iran, Belarus, and several Central Asian states, The Caspian Post reports via the Turkmen Education Ministry.
A total of 85 medals were awarded across Levels A and B, with Turkmen pupils delivering a dominant performance and finishing first in the overall team ranking.
The national team collected 29 medals in total, including 6 gold, 10 silver, and 13 bronze.
In the gold medal standings, Turkmenistan led with 6 golds, followed by Tajikistan with 3 and Uzbekistan with 2.
Overall, Uzbekistan earned 16 medals and Tajikistan 15, reflecting strong regional competition and high academic standards across participating teams.
The international jury included leading educators and scientists from multiple countries, ensuring a fair and high-level evaluation of all participants’ work.
Officials and delegation heads praised the Olympiad for promoting interest in mathematics while strengthening friendship and cooperation among young people from different nations.
The event concluded with cultural performances, highlighting an atmosphere of unity and hospitality, and reinforcing Turkmenistan’s role as a growing hub for academic excellence and international educational exchange.
