Hemra Amannazarov, Turkmenistan’s Permanent Representative to the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) and Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to Austria, have met with Rafael Grossi, Director General of the IAEA, to discuss ongoing cooperation and preparations for major international events.
The meeting centered on strengthening collaboration and finalizing arrangements for Turkmenistan’s participation in the 69th IAEA General Conference, set for September 2025, The Caspian Post reports via Turkmen media.
Key points included the development of Turkmenistan’s Country Framework Program for 2025-2029 and the nation’s intention to join the IAEA Agreement on Privileges and Immunities, which would enhance its cooperation with the agency.
Both officials also exchanged perspectives on the upcoming Third United Nations Conference on Landlocked Developing Countries (LLDC3), scheduled for August 5-8, 2025, in Avaza, Turkmenistan. Amannazarov shared updates on Turkmenistan’s preparations, while Grossi confirmed the IAEA’s commitment to participate at the highest level.
Since its founding in 1957, the IAEA has served as a specialized UN agency dedicated to promoting the safe, secure, and peaceful use of nuclear technology worldwide.
