Citigroup has officially announced the launch of its representative office in Uzbekistan, marking a significant step in expanding its presence in the country.
Grant Carson, a company spokesperson, highlighted that while Citigroup has supported clients in Uzbekistan for over two decades, the current phase of robust economic growth and ongoing reforms has created an ideal environment for strengthening its local footprint, The Caspian Post reports, citing Uzbek media.
“The opening of this office represents a new chapter for Citigroup, allowing us to be closer to our clients and partners and to facilitate their entry into global markets,” Carson said.
He also praised the energy, vision, and potential he witnessed during meetings with government officials and local businesses, reaffirming Citigroup’s commitment to supporting both domestic and international clients in launching new projects within Uzbekistan.
This development follows the official accreditation by the Central Bank of Uzbekistan on July 10 of Citigroup’s Turkish subsidiary, CitiBank AS. The representative office has been granted a three-year license, valid through July 9, 2028. Abbos Juraev has been appointed as the head of the office.
