Google Pay Debuts in Uzbekistan With Contactless Shopping Features

Google Pay was officially launched in Uzbekistan on October 19, 2026, expanding the country’s digital payment options.

Marcin Krasuski, CEE Government Affairs and Public Policy Lead at Google Cloud, announced the launch during C5+1-related events in Samarkand, Uzbekistan, UzDaily reports.

The service will allow users with compatible Android and Wear OS devices to pay for purchases in stores, apps and websites. To make contactless payments, users will need to add a bank card to Google Wallet and have a smartphone equipped with near-field communication (NFC) technology.

However, availability at the initial stage will depend on individual banks, as each financial institution must independently enable support for the service on its cards. The Google Wallet app is expected to become available on Google Play in Uzbekistan in the coming weeks.
