Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Uzbekistan Bobur Usmanov met with Russian Ambassador to Uzbekistan Oleg Malginov on May 2, The Caspian Post informs via AkiPress.
The Uzbek side focused on the increasing number of reports of violations of rights and cases of cruel treatment of labor migrants from Uzbekistan in Russia. The Deputy Minister noted that such actions are a violation of the rights and freedoms of Uzbek citizens working in Russia.
The Uzbek side called for a thorough study of this issue and to convey the concerns of the Uzbek side to the relevant competent authorities of the Russian Federation.
As part of the talks, an exchange of views on priority areas of Uzbek-Russian cooperation took place. The parties discussed current issues on the bilateral agenda, and also agreed on a schedule of upcoming events at the highest and high levels in the format of bilateral and multilateral interaction.
Following the meeting, an agreement was reached to continue cooperation on mutual protection of rights and freedoms of citizens of Uzbekistan and Russia on the territory of both countries.
