At the invitation of Turkmen President Serdar Berdimuhamedov, Uzbek President Shavkat Mirziyoyev will make a working visit to Turkmenistan on August 4-5 to participate in the Third United Nations Conference on Landlocked Developing Countries.
The visit comes at the invitation of Turkmen President Serdar Berdimuhamedov, The Caspian Post reports, citing Kazakh media.
The high-level conference is being held under the auspices of the United Nations and will be attended by UN Secretary-General António Guterres, heads of state and government, as well as leaders of major international and regional organizations.
The conference will focus on enhancing international cooperation in key areas such as transport connectivity, trade facilitation, economic transformation, and climate resilience. Advancing the implementation of the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) will also be high on the agenda.
The event is expected to conclude with the adoption of the Avaza Political Declaration and a comprehensive Programme of Action aimed at accelerating progress for landlocked developing countries.
As part of his visit, President Mirziyoyev will also participate in a special session dedicated to preparations for the Seventh Consultative Meeting of the Heads of State of Central Asia. A number of bilateral meetings are planned on the sidelines of the conference.
