On September 23, President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev held talks with US counterpart Donald Trump at the UN headquarters on the sidelines of the 80th anniversary session of the General Assembly.
The parties discussed in detail pressing issues and priority areas for expanding Uzbekistan-US strategic partnership, The Caspian Post reports, citing Uzbek media.
They also exchanged views on regional and global matters of mutual concern and reviewed the implementation of agreements reached during their phone conversation on September 5 this year.
At the start of the meeting, Shavkat Mirziyoyev sincerely congratulated his American counterpart on his achievements in domestic and foreign policy, highlighting Trump’s personal contribution and efforts to resolve acute international and regional conflicts through peaceful means.
For his part, the US President once again expressed strong support for Uzbekistan’s irreversible reforms aimed at modernizing the economy, improving people’s well-being, and enhancing the country’s international standing.
Both sides noted with satisfaction the growing pace of political dialogue and exchanges at various levels, as well as the increasing activity in business cooperation. President Trump highly appreciated the results of President Mirziyoyev’s recent meeting with the heads of more than 50 major American companies and banks, which took place the day before.
A portfolio of agreements and promising projects has been developed in civil aviation, mining, critical minerals, finance, innovation, chemicals, energy, and other priority areas. These projects and agreements are expected to create tens of thousands of new jobs in both countries.
At the conclusion of the talks, Shavkat Mirziyoyev invited Donald Trump to pay an official visit to Uzbekistan at a convenient time.
