Some 1,700 Uzbek citizens visited Japan between January and July 2025, marking an increase of 663 people-or a 1.6-fold rise-compared to the same period in 2024.
The majority of travelers from Uzbekistan visited Japan for tourism, followed by family visits, education, official purposes, and medical treatment, The Caspian Post reports via Kazakh media.
The breakdown of travel purposes is as follows:
Tourism: 1,407 visitors
Visiting relatives: 196 visitors
Education/study: 103 visitors
Official business: 28 visitors
Medical treatment: 4 visitors
This uptick in travel reflects growing interest in Japan as a destination for leisure and study among Uzbek nationals.
Meanwhile, it was recently announced that Okinawa, one of Japan’s most popular tourist destinations, plans to introduce an accommodation tax in the near future.
