Events promoting trade and investment cooperation between Uzbekistan and Egypt were held in Tashkent on December 24, culminating in the signing of several important agreements, The Caspian Post reports citing foreign media.
The day’s agenda began with a bilateral meeting between Laziz Kudratov, Uzbekistan’s Minister of Investments, Industry, and Trade, and Rania Al-Mashat, Egypt’s Minister of Planning, Economic Development, and International Cooperation. The leaders reviewed the current state of the partnership and explored future prospects, focusing on key areas such as trade, investment, and industrial collaboration.

Exports from Uzbekistan to Egypt have significantly increased in sectors including yarn, petroleum products, chemicals, pharmaceuticals, electrical equipment, agricultural products, and services. Currently, 15 Egyptian-owned enterprises operate in Uzbekistan, engaged in sectors such as food production, geological exploration, and the modernization of water supply and sewage systems.
The discussions were also aimed at preparing for the 7th session of the Intergovernmental Commission on Trade, Economic, and Scientific-Technical Cooperation between the two countries. Leaders from various ministries, agencies, and industry associations presented reports on executing bilateral agreements. The progress of each project was thoroughly analyzed, solutions for faster implementation were developed, deadlines were set, and responsibilities assigned.
A highlight of the day was a business forum with over 150 executives from leading companies in both countries. Notable Egyptian participants included El Sewedy Electric, Hassan Allam Holding, ACDIMA, EPICO, Nile Sugar, Badawy Group, Masriya Machine, Ebtkarat Smart Systems, Solyphar, and Al Farouk For Import & Export, among others. Minister Laziz Kudratov emphasized the importance of strengthening business ties, deepening trade relations, and exploring regional market and logistics opportunities.

Participants were informed about Uzbekistan’s supportive entrepreneurial environment, highlighting strong rights protections and significant investment opportunities.
The event also featured B2B and B2G meetings, offering entrepreneurs the opportunity to establish new connections, discuss ongoing projects, and negotiate trade agreements.
The day concluded with the signing of the Protocol from the 7th session of the Uzbek-Egyptian Intergovernmental Joint Commission. Several bilateral agreements were also signed, covering cooperation on environmental protection, regional partnerships between Samarkand and Alexandria, and collaboration between Egypt’s Supreme Council of Antiquities and Uzbekistan’s Center of Islamic Civilization. An education agreement between Ain Shams University and Tashkent State University of Oriental Studies was also signed, along with a Memorandum of Understanding between the Agency for the Development of Pharmaceutical Industry and ACDIMA.
