Uzbek-Japanese Business Relations Advance with Launch of JETRO’s Digital Gateway

During an official visit to Japan, Uzbekistan’s Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCI) held a high-level meeting with the Japan External Trade Organization (JETRO) in Tokyo, where JETRO unveiled its new “e-Venue” digital platform designed to facilitate international business engagement and improve access to the Japanese market.

The meeting was organized with the support of the Embassy of Uzbekistan in Japan and aligns with the objectives of the World Bank-funded project, “Development of Rural Entrepreneurship in the Fergana Valley”, The Caspian Post reports, citing Uzbek media.

JETRO, a key Japanese government agency under the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry, plays a pivotal role in advancing trade and investment cooperation with countries worldwide.

With a broad portfolio of services that includes international market research, business matchmaking, and export-import support, JETRO has become a vital platform for Uzbek entrepreneurs, particularly through its representative office in Tashkent.

JETRO officials also outlined a range of services available to international partners and reaffirmed their commitment to expanding bilateral economic ties.

Discussions also emphasized the importance of the CCI of Uzbekistan and regional business incubators in promoting entrepreneurship and driving innovation. Both parties acknowledged the successful implementation of the Memorandum of Understanding previously signed between the two organizations and expressed readiness to scale up joint initiatives.

A major outcome of the meeting was the announcement of a forthcoming international conference titled “START-UP - Supporting Entrepreneurship: Regional Cooperation,” to be held in Uzbekistan’s Fergana Valley in September 2025. The forum will bring together entrepreneurs from Japan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, and Uzbekistan for a series of presentations, startup showcases, and B2B meetings aimed at strengthening regional economic collaboration and innovation ecosystems.
