Uzbekistan and Türkiye are stepping up efforts to increase bilateral trade to $5 billion by removing trade barriers, simplifying market access and creating more favorable conditions for businesses.
The two countries discussed these measures during a meeting of a bilateral trade working group in Ankara attended by representatives of their respective ministries, Podrobno.uz reports.
The talks focused on reducing tariff and non-tariff restrictions, facilitating the entry of goods into each other's markets and expanding opportunities for exporters.
Agriculture, electrical engineering and light industry were identified as priority sectors for closer cooperation.
The sides also discussed standardization, product quality inspections and the mutual recognition of certificates of conformity. These measures are expected to simplify export procedures and reduce costs for companies operating in both markets.
To address issues related to electrical engineering products, the countries agreed to establish a dedicated technical working group.
Another key topic was the expansion of the Preferential Trade Agreement to cover a wider range of goods and provide exporters with additional opportunities.
Following the meeting, the two sides signed a protocol formalizing the agreements. The next step will be to implement specific measures to facilitate trade and achieve the $5 billion bilateral trade target.
