Uzbekistan and UN Enhance Cooperation

Special Representative and Head of the United Nations Regional Centre for Preventive Diplomacy for Central Asia (UNRCCA), Kaha Imnadze, has arrived at the Senate of the Oliy Majlis during his visit to Uzbekistan to participate in the First Meeting of the Termez Dialogue on Connectivity between Central and South Asia.

At the meeting with the Senate Chairperson, Tanzila Narbayeva, the parties exchanged views on current issues of regional importance. Issues of further development of practical cooperation with the Center were discussed, The Caspian Post reports citing UzA.

In particular, special attention was paid to strengthening peace, stability, and good-neighborly relations in the region, and jointly ensuring sustainable development.

The need to ensure the active participation of international organizations, including the UN system, in implementing initiatives put forward at the 150th IPU Assembly and adopting important documents was highlighted at the meeting.

The parties exchanged views on the possibilities of organizing a parallel meeting of the Central Asian Women’s Dialogue Forum within the framework of the next Consultative Meeting of the Heads of Central Asian States scheduled for September in Uzbekistan.

Such meetings will contribute to the institutionalization of this platform and will help strengthen the active participation of women in political and social processes.

Following the meeting, the parties expressed their readiness to strengthen cooperation and work together to implement regional initiatives.
