Uzbek President Shavkat Mirziyoyev has said that the country is set to strengthen air and trade links with Pakistan starting April 2026, with the launch of regular cargo flights to Karachi and direct passenger flights to Lahore.
President Mirziyoyev made these remarks at a business forum held in Islamabad, The Caspian Post reports via Uzbek media.
Speaking to business leaders, the Uzbek leader said the new routes will give fresh momentum to bilateral trade, logistics, and people-to-people ties between Uzbekistan and Pakistan.
Mirziyoyev also highlighted that cargo transportation has already been established along the Pakistan-China-Kyrgyzstan-Uzbekistan corridor, opening new opportunities for regional logistics integration and expanded trade flows.
Looking ahead, Uzbekistan and Pakistan plan to hold their first Forum of Regions later this year. The event is expected to serve as a key platform for boosting interregional cooperation, deepening business ties, and launching new joint projects across priority sectors.
