Uzbekistan, Iraq Discuss Easier Logistics and Customs

During a working visit to Baghdad, the Uzbek delegation has met with Iraq’s Deputy Minister of Trade, Ghassan Hamid, to discuss simplifying logistics and customs procedures.

The talks were attended by Shokhrukh Gulamov, Deputy Minister of Investments, Industry and Trade of Uzbekistan; Davron Vakhobov, Chairman of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry; and Ayubkhon Yunusov, Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of Uzbekistan to Iraq, The Caspian Post reports via Uzbek media.

The sides discussed ways to simplify logistics and customs procedures for entering the Iraqi market, reduce tariff and non-tariff barriers, and harmonize requirements for standardization and certification. These steps are expected to make trade operations smoother and more predictable for businesses from both countries.

As part of the discussions, the parties agreed on the active participation of Uzbek entrepreneurs in the 49th session of the Baghdad International Fair, scheduled to take place from February 1 to 7. Participation in the exhibition is expected to open new opportunities for signing contracts, launching joint projects, and accessing new markets for Uzbek companies.

Concluding the meeting, the sides agreed to maintain regular dialogue aimed at strengthening trade ties, creating more favorable business conditions, and achieving tangible, practical results.
