Uzbekistan Owes IMF About $101 Million in Outstanding Loans

Uzbekistan’s outstanding debt to the International Monetary Fund (IMF) stands at 73.64 million Special Drawing Rights (SDR), equivalent to about $101.2 million.

By the amount of outstanding IMF loans, Uzbekistan ranks second among Central Asian countries, according to the IMF.

Tajikistan has the largest outstanding debt in the region, at 111.36 million SDR, or about $153 million. Kyrgyzstan owes the IMF 54.02 million SDR, equivalent to approximately $74.2 million.

Kazakhstan and Turkmenistan are not currently listed among countries with outstanding IMF loans.

Uzbekistan’s current debt is linked to emergency financing received during the COVID-19 pandemic.
