Uzbekistan has received its first C-390 Millennium military transport aircraft from Brazilian aerospace company Embraer, marking the country’s entry into operation of the aircraft.

The handover ceremony was held at the company’s facility in Gavião Peixoto, Brazil, according to UzDaily.

The event was attended by Major General Ahmad Burkhanov, commander of the Uzbek Air Force, and Olimkhon Rustamov, director of the state institution O‘ztextreyd.

Uzbekistan signed the aircraft procurement contract with Embraer in late 2024. The agreement also includes specialist training, technical support and the supply of spare parts.

With the delivery, Uzbekistan becomes the first Central Asian country to operate the C-390 Millennium. The aircraft is part of Uzbekistan’s efforts to modernize its air force and expand its air mobility capabilities.

The C-390 Millennium can carry up to 26 tonnes of payload and reach speeds of up to 470 knots. Its missions include transporting cargo and personnel, airdropping equipment and personnel, medical evacuation, search-and-rescue operations, firefighting and humanitarian missions.

The aircraft is designed as a multi-role platform, allowing it to support a wide range of military and civilian operations.
