An Uzbek citizen identified as Z.Sh. and her children were successfully repatriated from the Ash Shumaisi deportation center in Mecca, Saudi Arabia.
The repatriation took place with the assistance of the Consulate General of Uzbekistan, the Committee on Religious Affairs, and Uzbekistan Airways JSC, The Caspian Post reports, citing Uzbek media.
Consular staff repeatedly held negotiations with the director of the center regarding the family’s return to Uzbekistan. As a result, an agreement was reached on their repatriation.
The Consulate General, the Committee on Religious Affairs, and Uzbekistan Airways purchased tickets for Z.Sh. and her children on a charter flight from Jeddah to Tashkent, which had been allocated for pilgrims. On 24 August, the family arrived safely in Uzbekistan.
This outcome was made possible as part of the humanitarian campaign “Return to the Motherland,” held in Uzbekistan from 30 July to 30 August, and reflects the Consulate General’s responsible approach to protecting the rights and interests of Uzbek citizens in Saudi Arabia.
