Uzbekistan, Tajikistan Unite to Tackle 2025–2026 Energy Demands

In a key move to enhance regional energy cooperation, Uzbek Energy Minister Jurabek Mirzamakhmudov and Tajik Energy and Water Resources Minister Daler Juma have met in Gulistan, Tajikistan, to discuss strengthening bilateral energy ties, with a primary focus on coordinating joint preparations for the 2025-2026 autumn-winter energy season.

The high-level meeting was also attended by senior officials and representatives from major energy and fuel enterprises of both nations, The Caspian Post reports per Kazakh media.

Both sides acknowledging the steady progress made under the leadership of Uzbek President Shavkat Mirziyoyev and Tajik President Emomali Rahmon.

Their joint commitment, according to the ministers, has played a pivotal role in fostering strategic cooperation across various fields, particularly in energy.

The two sides also addressed technical matters connected to the ongoing "Reconnection to the Unified Energy System of Central Asia" project, which aims to restore synchronized operations among regional power grids.

In a joint statement following the talks, the ministers expressed satisfaction with the current state of cooperation and reaffirmed their countries' shared resolve to further strengthen the brotherly and strategic partnership for the mutual benefit of their peoples.

In a related development, the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB) has indicated its readiness to expand cooperation with Uzbekistan in the energy sector - a move that could further support regional energy integration and infrastructure development.
