Uzbekistan to Celebrate “Days of Japanese Culture” This August

Uzbekistan’s capital Tashkent will host the “Days of Japanese Culture” from August 1 to 3, organized by the Ikuo Hirayama International Caravanserai of Culture in partnership with the Embassy of Japan in Uzbekistan, the Uzbek-Japanese Center, and the Urasenke Tea Ceremony Group.

The festival aims to promote Japanese culture, deepen cultural ties, and enhance mutual understanding between Uzbekistan and Japan, The Caspian Post reports, citing Uzbek media.

The opening ceremony will take place on August 1 at 5 p.m. (GMT+5), featuring a welcome speech by Japan’s Ambassador to Uzbekistan, Takashi Hattori, and a musical performance by students of the Uzbek-Japanese Center.

The program includes exhibitions of traditional Japanese woodblock prints, kimono displays, food replicas, and tea ceremony artifacts. Visitors can also enjoy Japanese anime screenings and the film “Koshien Photo Contest: Half a Second of Summer.”

Hands-on workshops will cover origami, mask and Daruma doll making, sakura painting, amigurumi crochet, and sashiko embroidery. Guests can also participate in tea tastings, kimono demonstrations, and traditional Japanese games.

The exhibitions will be open until August 10.
