Uzbekneftegaz, Sinopec Explore New Oil and Gas Projects

JSC Uzbekneftegaz and China's Sinopec Corporation have discussed expanding cooperation in geological exploration, deep well drilling, and the implementation of modern oil refining technologies.

Abdugani Sanginov, Chairman of the Board of Uzbekneftegaz, met with a Sinopec delegation led by Fan Xiangnan, the company's chief representative for Russia and Central Asia, The Caspian Post reports, citing UzDaily.

A key topic of the discussion was the development of promising hydrocarbon reserves identified in the Ustyurt region following recent geological exploration. Field development plans call for drilling wells to depths of 5,500 to 6,000 meters under conditions of high reservoir pressure and high temperatures.

Uzbekneftegaz invited Sinopec to submit modern technological solutions and commercial proposals for carrying out these operations.

The parties also discussed joint geological exploration and the development of new prospective blocks. According to Uzbekneftegaz, the volume of geological exploration work this year has nearly tripled compared to last year. Meeting participants explored opportunities to organize joint exploration activities in promising areas, followed by field development.

Special attention was given to the introduction of modern technologies in oil refining. In addition, both sides expressed interest in partnering with research institutes within the Sinopec structure and agreed to examine opportunities for cooperation in this area.

Following the meeting, both parties reaffirmed their interest in broadening cooperation and agreed to continue practical work across the identified areas.
