A working group led by Abdugani Sanginov, Chairman of the Board of Uzbekneftegaz, has begun exploratory studies at facilities operated by the Ustyurt Gas Production Directorate in northern Uzbekistan.
Preliminary studies have started at the Muynak gas field, which is considered a promising area for oil and gas development, The Caspian Post reports via local media.
Drilling operations there are underway at depths exceeding 5,000 meters. The working group was briefed on current activities at the site, existing technical capabilities, and plans for future development.
The Muynak field is among the new deposits discovered in 2025. At present, natural gas production is being carried out from four wells, marking the early stage of commercial development.
During the visit, Sanginov issued specific instructions to further expand geological exploration in the area and to increase gas output by identifying additional reserves, underlining the strategic importance of the Ustyurt region for Uzbekistan’s energy sector.
The Ustyurt Gas Production Directorate, which operates under Uzbekneftegaz, is located in the country’s northern region and plays a key role in developing new hydrocarbon resources as Uzbekistan seeks to strengthen domestic production and long-term energy security.
