Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan and his Latvian counterpart Baiba Braže have signed a protocol on the return of illegal migrants.
The protocol provides for the implementation of the Agreement between the European Union and the Republic of Armenia on the Readmission of Persons Residing Without Authorisation, The Caspian Post reports, citing Armenia's Foreign Ministry.
Meanwhile, Latvia is strengthening security along its eastern border amid growing concerns over irregular migration, drone incursions and threats from Russia and Belarus.
Border guards are expanding surveillance, while military planners are developing defensive infrastructure designed to slow a potential ground attack.
Latvian authorities say these challenges form part of a broader security threat facing NATO’s eastern flank.
