Russia and Armenia are set to work on expanding trade and economic cooperation following a meeting between Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan and Russian President Vladimir Putin in Bishkek, Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov said.

The talks highlighted several specific areas of bilateral economic cooperation that Moscow and Yerevan intend to follow up on through their respective government agencies, according to Sputnik Armenia.

“During the meeting with the Armenian prime minister, several specific issues related to bilateral trade and economic cooperation were outlined,” Peskov told reporters.

The statement comes as Russia and Armenia continue discussions on the future of their economic relationship, including trade and investment ties.

Peskov also said that upcoming high-level Russian-Armenian talks in Moscow are expected to focus on Armenia’s future development and its strategic orientation.

Another key issue will be Armenia’s planned referendum on the country’s future direction, according to the Kremlin spokesperson.

The exact timing of Pashinyan’s visit to Russia has not yet been finalized.

Peskov said the dates will be coordinated through diplomatic channels, taking into account the working schedules.
