Armenia Plans to Raise Military Budget to About $1.7 Billion

Armenia plans to increase its military budget next year from 563 billion drams to 616.5 billion drams, equivalent to about $1.7 billion.

Of the total allocation, 613 billion drams is earmarked for the country’s “Defense Provision” program, according to Armenian Military Portal.

The funding will cover the operation and maintenance of the armed forces, military equipment, communications, supplies, food, uniforms, fuel and other resources, as well as the procurement of weapons and ammunition.

The draft budget also allocates:

1.07 billion drams for military medicine;

974 million drams for international military cooperation;

306 million drams for humanitarian demining.

The proposed increase would raise Armenia’s planned military spending by 53.5 billion drams compared with the current allocation.
