Former Armenian President Robert Kocharyan, who faces accusations of large-scale money laundering, abuse of office and accepting a particularly large bribe, was transported from a hospital to the Anti-Corruption Court.

Officials said the case against Kocharyan was only recently submitted to the Anti-Corruption Court and has not yet been assigned to a judge, The Caspian Post reports, citing Sputnik Armenia.

A motion has also been filed requesting Kocharyan’s pretrial detention.

On the morning of August 25, searches were conducted at the homes of Kocharyan, his son Levon Kocharyan, and companies owned by his family.

The former president and his eldest son, Sedrak Kocharyan, were detained on Tuesday.

The Anti-Corruption Committee said searches and other procedural actions were being carried out at several dozen addresses as part of the criminal proceedings.
