Armenia will host the CIS Sports Games in 2029.

The decision was made at a meeting of the CIS Council for Physical Culture and Sport in Almaty. Yerevan had previously been offered the opportunity to host the event in 2027, but Armenian authorities said at the time that the country was not ready to organize the competition, Sputnik Armenia reports.

The CIS Sports Games bring together athletes from member states for competitions across various sporting disciplines.

Armenia has previously taken on a prominent role in CIS sports initiatives. In 2024, Gyumri was named the CIS Sports Capital, further highlighting the country’s involvement in regional sporting events.
