Australia has expressed its support for the peace agreement between Armenia and Azerbaijan, announced in Washington on August 8, 2025, according to a statement from the Australian Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade, The Caspian Post reports citing local media.
"This marks an important and encouraging step toward resolving a long-standing conflict in the South Caucasus.
Australia commends President Trump’s role in facilitating this positive breakthrough.
We urge both parties to honour their commitments and proceed to signing a comprehensive peace agreement as soon as possible.
Australia reaffirms its support for the sovereignty and territorial integrity of both Armenia and Azerbaijan. We encourage continued dialogue to secure a just and lasting peace."
