Azerbaijan, Israel Explore Opportunities for Education and Tourism Cooperation

Azerbaijan University of Tourism and Management hosted an official meeting with an Israeli delegation led by Ronen Krausz, Israel’s Ambassador to Azerbaijan.

The Ambassador was accompanied by Aviv Zell, Deputy Chief of Mission at the Embassy of Israel in Baku, and Maleyka Hajiyeva, Public Relations Counselor, The Caspian Post reports, citing local media.

The meeting focused on the current state and future prospects of Azerbaijan-Israel relations, with particular attention to cooperation opportunities in the fields of education, tourism, hospitality, and innovation.

The sides emphasized the importance of implementing joint projects between higher education institutions, expanding student and faculty exchange programs, as well as exchanging experience and knowledge in the tourism sector.

Rector of the Azerbaijan University of Tourism and Management Ilham Madatov noted that the meeting was of great importance for the development of academic and cultural relations between the two countries. He underlined that ATMU is a leading higher education institution specializing in tourism and hospitality and recalled that several years ago ATMU students had participated in professional internship programs in Israel, which proved highly beneficial for both the students and the university.

The Rector stressed that the university aims to further expand such opportunities to ensure that students gain international experience, adding that Israel’s rich experience in education and tourism could play a significant role in the development of bilateral cooperation. He also noted that creating an education environment in line with international standards and expanding cooperation with foreign partners are among ATMU’s strategic priorities.

Ambassador Ronen Krausz expressed his gratitude for the warm welcome, emphasizing that the friendly and partnership-based relations between Azerbaijan and Israel are developing steadily. He noted that cooperation in the field of education plays an important role in strengthening bilateral relations.

According to the Ambassador, the purpose of the visit was to discuss cooperation opportunities with ATMU in detail. He stated that implementing joint projects with Israeli universities and expanding exchange programs for students and academic staff would provide students not only with theoretical knowledge but also with practical skills, while further strengthening cultural and scientific ties between the two countries.

The meeting concluded with a discussion of future cooperation prospects.
