An Azerbaijani delegation is taking part in the 28th Congress of the Universal Postal Union (UPU), the organization’s supreme decision-making body, held in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, from September 8 to 19.
The UPU Congress, convened every four years, is responsible for electing the Director General and Deputy Director General of the UPU’s International Bureau, as well as the chairpersons and members of the Postal Operations Council (POC) and the Council of Administration (CA), The Caspian Post informs via local media.
This year, Azerbaijan has nominated candidates for both councils and is actively participating in the elections. As the UPU’s highest decision-making authority, the Congress serves as a key platform for shaping global postal policies, setting regulations, and defining the strategic direction for the future development of international postal services. The event brings together representatives from all 192 UPU member countries, with 41 members elected to the councils across five regional groups.
Ahead of the Congress, the EMS Awards ceremony was held, where “Azerpost” LLC, part of AZCON Holding, received the silver award for outstanding performance, ranking among the top winners in the Customer Service Category A.
