Azerbaijan, Russia Push Joint Action on Caspian Sea

Azerbaijan's Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov on Thursday held a meeting with Ruslan Edelgeriyev, presidential aide and Special Representative of the Russian President for Climate and Water Resources.

According to the Foreign Ministry, the discussions focused on cooperation between Azerbaijan and Russia in the areas of climate action, COP-related matters, as well as regional and international issues of mutual interest, The Caspian Post reports.

During the meeting, Bayramov briefed the Russian presidential aide on Azerbaijan's experience and the outcomes achieved while hosting the COP29 Conference.

The two sides also reviewed bilateral cooperation concerning the Caspian Sea, emphasizing the importance of accelerating the work of the joint working group on Caspian Sea issues.

In addition, they underscored the need to preserve the Caspian Sea's water resources and its unique ecosystem. The officials stressed the importance of applying innovative technologies, including in agriculture, and advancing joint projects aimed at protecting the region's environmental sustainability.
