A ceremony was held in Beijing, China to mark the 107th anniversary of the establishment of the Armed Forces of Azerbaijan.
The event was attended by high-ranking officials of the Chinese Armed Forces, foreign military attachés in Beijing, diplomats, and Azerbaijanis living in China, The Caspian Post reports, citing AZERTAC.
The ceremony began with the national anthems of Azerbaijan and China.
Colonel Teyfur Rustamov, Azerbaijan’s military attaché in China, noted that the Azerbaijani Armed Forces have traversed a long, challenging, and honorable path filled with brilliant victories. He emphasized that the army-building process initiated by National Leader Heydar Aliyev has been successfully continued by the President of Azerbaijan and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, Ilham Aliyev.
Colonel Rustamov highlighted that while the country’s leadership pursued diplomatic efforts to liberate Azerbaijani lands that had been under occupation for nearly 30 years and to ensure the implementation of UN resolutions within the framework of international law, the state simultaneously focused on developing its self-defense capabilities and establishing a modern Armed Forces.
He stated that during the 44-day Patriotic War in 2020 and subsequent operations, the Azerbaijani Armed Forces achieved remarkable victories on the battlefield. Thanks to the country's strong defense capabilities and the professionalism and patriotism of its servicemen, historical justice was restored, and Azerbaijan’s territorial integrity and sovereignty were fully reinstated.
Colonel Rustamov also noted that the Azerbaijani Armed Forces actively contribute to peacekeeping operations and support efforts to promote global peace. Touching on international cooperation, he underlined that one of Azerbaijan’s key partners in bilateral military cooperation is the Chinese People's Liberation Army.
