Azerbaijan's Baku Slavic University (BSU) is set to introduce Armenian language courses in the coming years, the university’s spokesperson Sabina Huseynzade has announced.

Huseynzade said the decision was made by the university’s Academic Council, according to Baku.WS.

“Based on the decision of the Academic Council of Baku Slavic University, the teaching of the Armenian language is planned for the coming years,” she said.

The move follows an earlier announcement by BSU Rector Anar Naghiyev, who said last year that the university planned to begin teaching Armenian starting from the 2026-2027 academic year.

Armenian is already taught at Baku State University and the Azerbaijan University of Languages, making BSU another major academic institution in Azerbaijan to introduce the language into its curriculum.
