Kazakhstan’s national television channel is looking to expand cooperation with Azerbaijani broadcasters through joint media projects and content exchanges.

Yerkin Mukhamedzhanov, deputy chairman of the board of Qazaqstan TV, said that the broadcaster maintains close ties with media organizations across the Turkic world, including Azerbaijan, according to Report.

“We are interested in this and ready for close cooperation with our Azerbaijani brothers, with the television channels of brotherly nations,” Mukhamedzhanov said on the sidelines of the International Media Forum in Tashkent.

He noted that Qazaqstan TV and Azerbaijan’s state television broadcaster already have a memorandum of cooperation in place.

Mukhamedzhanov also said a documentary produced by Qazaqstan TV about the cultural heritage of Turkic peoples could be broadcast in Azerbaijan after its premiere.

“This is only a matter of time. First, we will present the film to our audience and study their reaction,” he said.

Commenting on the idea of creating a common television channel for the Turkic world, Mukhamedzhanov said the proposal had been discussed for many years.

He said broadcasters could strengthen cooperation by exchanging content, providing filming locations and offering logistical and production support to one another.

The Qazaqstan TV documentary aims to highlight the shared cultural heritage of Turkic peoples and their longstanding connections.

The project is intended to show that the Turkic world is united not only by common history and language but also by strong cultural ties, Mukhamedzhanov said.
