The Khojaly, a Handysize bulk carrier operated by Azerbaijan Caspian Shipping Company (ASCO), has set sail on another international voyage, expanding the country’s presence in global maritime transport.

The vessel was loaded with roundwood at the Port of Nelson in New Zealand on September 9 and has headed for Lanshan Port in China, according to ASCO.

The voyage across the Pacific Ocean is expected to take approximately 18 days.

The New Zealand-China route is part of ASCO’s efforts to expand its operations in the global shipping market and strengthen the position of Azerbaijani maritime transport in international waters.

The Khojaly is the first Handysize bulk carrier in ASCO’s fleet and entered service in 2024. The vessel has an unrestricted sailing range, allowing it to operate on international routes.

The ship has a deadweight capacity of 38,593 tons, a length of 180 meters, a beam of 30 meters and a draft of 10.47 meters. Its maximum speed is 15.7 knots.
