Azerbaijan’s Top Diplomat Briefs Outgoing French Envoy on Washington Meeting

Azerbaijan's Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov on Wednesday held a meeting with French Ambassador Anne Bouillon as she completes her diplomatic mission in the country.

The discussions revolved around the Azerbaijan-France relations, as well as the regional and global issues, The Caspian Post reports, citing the country's Foreign Ministry.

Minister Jeyhun Bayramov noted that Anne Bouillon served as a French ambassador to Azerbaijan during the landmark period for the country, wishing the diplomat success in her future endeavors.

They underscored the importance of maintaining open dialogue, despite the existing challenges in the Azerbaijani-French relations.

Minister Jeyhun Bayramov briefed the outgoing ambassador about Azerbaijan’s efforts to advance the regional peace agenda, including the details and outcomes of the historic Washington meeting, describing this meeting as a testimony to Azerbaijan’s commitment to peace.

The pointed out the significance of the initialing of the draft “Agreement on Establishment of Peace and Inter-State Relations between the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Republic of Armenia” and signing of the Joint Appeal by the Foreign Ministers of Azerbaijan and Armenia regarding the closure of the OSCE’s Minsk Process and related structures during the Washington meeting.

Ambassador Anne Bouillon expressed gratitude for the support and collaboration during her diplomatic tenure.

They also discussed other issues of mutual concern.
