Azerbaijan, US Discuss Military Reforms and Cooperation

Azerbaijani Defense Minister, Colonel General Zakir Hasanov has met with a delegation led by US Central Command Chief Admiral Brad Cooper, briefing them on ongoing reforms in the Azerbaijani Armed Forces.

The visit began with a ceremony at the Alley of Martyrs, where the guests paid tribute to Azerbaijani servicemen who sacrificed their lives for the nation, The Caspian Post reports via the Azerbaijani Defense Ministry.

During the meeting, Hasanov briefed the delegation on ongoing reforms in the Azerbaijani Armed Forces, implemented under the leadership of President and Supreme Commander-in-Chief Ilham Aliyev, and expressed satisfaction with the current state of bilateral cooperation.

Admiral Cooper thanked the hosts for their hospitality, emphasizing the importance of mutual visits in strengthening ties. He also expressed gratitude for Azerbaijani contributions to “Resolute Support” mission in Afghanistan and stressed the need to further develop military collaboration.

The talks concluded with discussions on new opportunities and prospects for Azerbaijan-US defense cooperation.
