During a visit to Washington, D.C. for the 2026 FIFA World Cup draw, President of the Azerbaijan Football Federations Association (AFFA) Rovshan Najaf has met with Uzbekistan Football Association Vice President Ravshan Irmatov.
The sides discussed preparations for the U-20 World Cup 2027, which will be co-hosted by Azerbaijan and Uzbekistan, and explored ways to strengthen ties between the two football associations across various areas, The Caspian Post reports via the Azerbaijani Football Federations Association.
The Association of Football Federations of Azerbaijan (AFFA) is the governing body of football in Azerbaijan, responsible for overseeing all aspects of the sport in the country. Founded in 1992, AFFA organizes domestic leagues, cup competitions, and national teams across all age groups and genders. The association is also tasked with developing football infrastructure, training programs, and youth academies.
AFFA is a member of both FIFA and UEFA, representing Azerbaijan in international competitions and collaborating with other national football associations to promote the growth of the game domestically and abroad.
