Azerbaijan, World Bank Review Development Projects

Sahil Babayev, Azerbaijan’s Minister of Finance, held a meeting with Sameh Naguib Wahba, the World Bank’s Regional Director for Sustainable Development in Europe and Central Asia, and Rolande Pryce, Regional Director for the South Caucasus.

The meeting focused on opportunities for expanding cooperation between Azerbaijan and the World Bank, The Caspian Post reports, citing the Finance Ministry.

The sides discussed current and future programs implemented by the Bank in the country, as well as the status and prospects of the partnership, with a particular emphasis on the water and agricultural sectors.

Minister Babayev emphasized that Azerbaijan attaches great importance to its partnership with the World Bank. He noted that projects financed by the Bank and the technical support provided within this cooperation play a crucial role in the country's socio-economic development.

For their part, the World Bank representatives commended the reforms implemented in Azerbaijan and the socio-economic achievements of recent years. They affirmed the Bank's interest in continuing the partnership with Azerbaijan in the coming period.

The meeting also included discussions on cooperation opportunities in transport, logistics, and road infrastructure.
