Azerbaijani Army Celebrates Solidarity Day and New Year

The Azerbaijani Army has organized a series of events across all troops, forces, and military educational institutions to commemorate Day of Solidarity of World Azerbaijanis and the New Year, following a plan approved by Defense Minister, Colonel General Zakir Hasanov.

The celebrations began with a tribute to National Leader Heydar Aliyev and martyrs, accompanied by the national anthem performed by a military band, The Caspian Post reports via the Azerbaijani Defense MInistry.

Speeches highlighted the history and significance of the Day of Solidarity, emphasizing national unity, love for Azerbaijan, moral values, and devotion to the Motherland.

The commemorative day was established on December 31, 1991, following decisions by the Nakhchivan Supreme Assembly, chaired by Heydar Aliyev, and a law passed by the National Council of the Supreme Soviet of Azerbaijan.

Events also recognized the contributions of Heydar Aliyev and the achievements of his successor, President Ilham Aliyev, in advancing Azerbaijan’s political course. Military personnel attended documentary screenings, roundtable discussions, and quizzes promoting loyalty to the state and national values.

Concerts by the Hazi Aslanov Army Ideological and Cultural Center, the Ganja Garrison Cultural Center, and district cultural teams delighted attendees. On the eve of the holidays, personnel visited martyrs’ families, presenting them with festive gifts.
